Privacy Policy

Effective July 31, 2026

This notice describes how the Cognitive Control Lab website at cogcontrollab.org collects, uses, and protects information. The website is independently hosted and technically administered by Joshua W. Brown using personal resources. Indiana University does not operate this web server. The Indiana University Global Privacy Statement does not govern the website-side processing described in this notice.

The lab is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington. Information sent from this website to an Indiana University email account may subsequently be processed under applicable University policies and legal obligations.

Information collected automatically

Cloudflare and the independently operated web server process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, date and time, response status, and security events. We do not use this information for advertising or behavioral profiling. Cloudflare processes information under its own privacy policy.

Information you provide

The copyright-reporting form collects the name, reply email, optional telephone number, electronic signature, and report details you submit. This information is used only to review, respond to, and document the report. It is sent to the site copyright contact at an Indiana University email account and is not stored as a WordPress form entry.

Cookies and analytics

The public site does not use advertising or behavioral analytics. WordPress uses necessary cookies for administrators who sign in. Cloudflare may set security cookies when needed to distinguish legitimate requests from abusive traffic.

Use, disclosure, and retention

The site operator uses information only to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site or to respond to a request. Personal information is not sold or used for advertising. It may be disclosed to service providers that support site operation, to relevant Indiana University personnel when needed to respond to a lab-related request, when required by law, or when necessary to investigate misuse. Server logs controlled by the site operator are rotated and retained for no more than 30 days unless a security incident requires longer retention. Cloudflare applies its own retention practices. Reports delivered to an Indiana University email account may be subject to applicable University retention rules and legal obligations.

Your choices and questions

You may ask about information you submitted or request correction or deletion when applicable by using the lab’s contact information. Questions about this independently operated server should be directed to the site operator through that contact information. Privacy concerns about information after it enters an Indiana University system may be directed to the University Privacy Office.

Security and external links

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Links to external websites are provided for convenience; those sites are responsible for their own content and privacy practices.
